We crossed over the Mackinac Bridge (beautiful bridge). As soon we crossed over the bridge we saw the small red building (gift shop that made homemade Pasties) Carla told us about and stopped to pick up some Pasties. Delicious. We drove about another 250 miles today and got to the Christmas, Mi casino in the Upper Peninsula where we would stay for the next 3 nights. They had only 5 sites and we were the only ones at the RV sites for the 3 days. Security told us we could stay as long as we wanted. We had 50 AMP electricity and the cost was a whopping $0.00. Can't beat that. We did go into the casino daily to play a few games. After 3 days we walked out with a few dollars more than we started with.
The Upper Peninsula is a beautiful place. Pictured Rocks is a National Lakeshore on Lake Superior. Lake Superior is one of the 10 largest freshwater lakes in the world. The water is crystal clear. We took a 3 hours cruise to view the rocks. All I can say is they were amazing and we had a great time. It was 90 degrees that day, so the cruise was just the thing we needed.

This is a root from a tree which is on the rock on the right. The rocks that the root was originally in has fallen and the root still joins the tree on the right
Root between two formations of rocks connected to tree on the right. The rocks that originally were between has fallen but root still is attached to tree on right and the tree continues to grow.

Today was an overcast day and a bit cooler so we decided to go for a ride and do some hikes. We hiked to a few waterfalls. There are lots of very nice waterfalls in the Upper Peninsula. I am putting a few pictures only. We are having trouble with our picture site and until we can get it straightened out I will have to be stingy on showing pictures. As soon as we figure out the problem I will go back and edit this and add pictures. Sorry about that.
We had a great day hiking and seeing the rocks from a different perspective than on the cruise. It was nice seeing them from the water and then hiking and seeing them from the back.

This was used to transport logs. The large wheels made it possible to log throughout the winter. |
Au Sable Lighthouse. It was built in 1874. |
Today we are leaving and heading to Wisconsin to see friends, John and Sharon Pijan. John and Jesse were in Vietnam together in 1966-1967. We spent 3 days with them reminiscing and playing games and eating. Had a great time and we were happy to have the time to see them again.
Weather has been good and having a great time.
